Cioks Type 2 Flex cables are red and fitted with a centre positive 5,5/2,1mm DC plug for your Cioks power supply. This standard is less popular but also widely used in older or positive ground pedals as for example the ’69 Pedal, Soulbender or Octafuzz from Fulltone or Voodoo Lab’s Proctavia.

Red Flex cable should also be used for Moogerfoogers, Radial Tonebones, Effectrode, some Diamond pedals, Blackstar for 22V DC or few Empress and Kingsley pedals. We offer this Flex cable type with angled (L-shaped) plug and a 10mm barrel with cable lengths 30 or 50cm. For pedals with recessed power sockets or other special needs we also offer this Flex cable type with a straight (I-shaped) plug or one with a longer 12mm barrel, both with 50cm cable length.

Here’s a list of pedals which we know need a centre positive polarity and therefore the red type 2 Flex cable:

  • Fulltone ’69 Fuzz, Soulbender or Octafuzz or Voodoo Lab’s Proctavia
  • all Moogerfooger pedals
  • all Radial Tonebone pedals
  • all Radial active DI boxes, reampers, splitters, interface boxes that need 15V DC
  • Diamond Halo Chorus, Memory Lane 1 and 2, ST-MIX, Phase, Vibrato and Bass Comp
  • new Blackstar for 22V DC Empres Effects Superdelay and Vintage Modified Superdelay
  • version B of Jester, Juggler, Jouster and Constable from Kingsley
Roger Linn Adrenalinn I and II
  • all Effectrode pedals
  • Morpheus Droptune

Pay attention: always check the manual or label on the pedal to get the polarity of the Flex cable right. Wrong use of this cable can harm your pedal.

CIOKS

The story started in Copenhagen, Denmark in November 1991 when Poul Ciok turned 18 and formally founded the company. Having been a dedicated guitar player and an electronics enthusiast for years prior to this, Poul had trouble finding a proper way to power his growing pedal collection and this set him on the course we know today.

Continuing growth

The company initially offered the Baby power supply. As digital effects pedals gained popularity, the Big John and Double Jack power supplies were introduced in 1995. The company continued to grow, and in 2004 a sister company was established in Poland to handle manufacturing and development. The Professional Range was introduced in 2010, featuring toroidal transformers and all-metal enclosures, while the LINK Range allowed users to power multiple power supplies from a single mains cord.

Expanding product range

In 2017, the Future Power Generation range was developed with switch-mode power supplies, designed by Mads Peter Frium, and in 2018, the first three products were shown at the NAMM show. CIOKS has continued to expand its product range with the release of the C4e, C8e, Superpower Bundle, SOL power supply, and CRUX in recent years.
