Earthquaker Devices Bit Commander V2 is a monophonic analog guitar synthesizer with four octaves of vintage square wave synth tones. Its no-nonsense interface makes it easy to add or subtract octaves to create a wide variety of sounds without having to dial in envelopes or oscillators.

Ripping sub-octave thump, pulsing octave down, a lightly squared base tone and a swelling transformer based octave up all join together to make a single guitar sound like an army of olde tyme synths.

EarthQuaker Devices is an American company that specializes in designing and manufacturing high-quality guitar effects pedals. Based in Akron, Ohio, and founded in 2004 by Jamie Stillman, the company has become known for its innovative and experimental approach to sound manipulation.

Unconventional sounds

Initially, Stillman, a musician and DIY enthusiast, began modifying and building pedals for personal use, which evolved into EarthQuaker Devices. Over time, the company has built a strong reputation among musicians for its hand-built, boutique-style pedals that range from classic effects like distortion, delay, and reverb, to more unique and unconventional sounds. Each pedal is meticulously crafted with a focus on creativity, durability, and usability. The company has gained a dedicated following among guitarists, bassists, and experimental musicians for its ability to produce rich, dynamic tones that push sonic boundaries.

1 review for Earthquaker Devices Bit Commander V2

  1. Olivier Strauch

The synth sounds are very nice but the tracking is not so great. This may be fun for people looking for a glitchy/tuttery sound but it’s not what I was looking for. The controls are very easy to use.
