Carl Martin Bass Drive is an overdrive designed for bass guitar with a warm ‘tube’ sound, a nice crunch and a flexible EQ. Even though the BassDrive has been listed in the catalogue for years, Carl postponed the release of this pedal until we were able to tweak the EQ and crunch to where it could add a warm ‘tube’ sound to modern digital bass amps and actually improve their performance.

The new Bass Drive now does exactly that….creating that famous John Entwhistle (The Who) tone … big, round and phat with just the right amount of sustain to place your bass properly in the mix and allow it to ‘pop’ in live and recording situations. The Drive control blends evenly with your bass tones, rather than sitting on top like so many others, and very naturally maintains a full bottom-end. Gain, Bass-Mid-Treble, Level Controls look after your sound, and the regulated and switch-able Power Supply (115-240V) provides the Bass Drive with tons of headroom.

Carl Martin is produced by East Sound Research and was founded in 1990 as a professional PA sound rental company. Shortly after, they began producing custom made audio equipment.

Demanding professionals

Their goal from the very beginning was to develop and produce products for the demanding professional musician, with superior sound quality and features not seen in other guitar effect pedals. As a result, the Hot Drive’n Boost, was introduced in 1993.

High quality standard

Due to extensive knowledge of the professional music industry, and contacts with a wide range of demanding musicians, Carl Martin have maintained a very high quality standard and has a range of 44 high quality guitar and bass effect pedals, and more to come in the future. In 2005 they released the first handmade, point-to-point tube amplifier... the Custom Shop 50. Each year they strive to improve their existing pedals and they look for new products to offer pros and aspiring musicians
