Catalinbread Sinkhole is the combination of a harmonically-rich “hole” reverb with an impossibly deep four-voice chorus.

The pdal has been outfitted with a feedback control and a gentle high-cut filter. The Feedback control allows the Sinkhole to reach deep within the reverb to extract some truly otherworldly tunable modulation, featuring everything from comb filtering to pseudo-phaser to haunting auto-filtering.

The reverb trails have been stretched out to their absolute limit, with the maximum decay time almost freezing your signal in space. Extreme settings evoke warm synthesizer pads, reminiscent of vintage analog-digital hybrids, holding your modulated note indefinitely.

The pedal has controls for the length of the reverb, the mix and the volume of the effect. Als available are a knob for the speed of the modulation and an internal switch for True of Buffered Bypass.

Het pedaal werkt op een standaard Boss-style voeding van 9 volt (niet meegeleverd). Als je wat meer headroom wilt kan je het pedaal ook met een 18 volt voeding van stroom voorzien.

The pedal draws current from a standard Boss-style power supply ( 9 volts and power supply is not included). For more headroom you can also use a 18 volts power supply.

Back before most people heard the term “boutique” in reference to music gear, something was brewing in all corners of the globe, spurred by the Internet and the ability to share information freely. Guitar players began to look backwards to move forwards, combining time-tested approaches to pedalcraft with forward-thinking ideas. The Pacific Northwest’s answer to this boom was Catalinbread, born in 2003 on Nic Harris’s kitchen table. After producing the Super Chili Picoso, the first Catalinbread-branded pedal exclusively for ToneFactor, a Seattle-based guitar shop.

Adventurous designs

The sales of this fur-lined pedal went on to fund some more adventurous designs, and before long Catalinbread had outgrown both its business model and modest shop space, packing up the truck and ending up in Portland, Oregon. We’ve been here since 2006, now manufacturing over 30 unique pedals, built by human hands, one by one.
